About Mr. Roboto

Mr. Roboto is a karaoke host, a KJ, and the name tells you up front that this won't be a typical karaoke night. Like Mr. Data, he can imitate any voice or accent, and his control of the sound is very precise. His rule for the board: "BE the sound. There is ONLY the sound." Look for the trademark oversized yellow-lens glasses. Between singers he plays synthwave, and at the "page breaks" of the list he often rolls 80s cartoons and other retro material on the screens. He came to karaoke as a serious musician who used to dislike it, until he found really good rooms like Ground Control. He started to like karaoke a lot, was hired to fill a vacancy, and has hosted as Mr. Roboto for the past several years. He caters to people who REALLY like karaoke, because he is meticulous about the sound. Find him every Sunday at The 80s Bar in Placentia, 7 PM to 1 AM, no cover. He had worked the bar's other locations, so they offered him the Sunday gig, and he calls the Placentia room "truly the nicest club I've seen used for this purpose." He wants the night to grow, and thinks more people would love it if they knew about it and tried it. He also runs The 80's Bar Karaoke pages on Facebook and occasionally hosts at New Wave Restaurant & Bar in Bellflower.

“BE the sound. There is ONLY the sound.”
